Kanpur Highway toll hike: What travellers need to know about the new charges

In a recent update, from April 1, 2025, toll rates across several toll plazas on highways in and around Kanpur will see a significant hike. This change will take effect from midnight on March 31, marking the beginning of the new financial year. The toll increase, ranging from Rs 5 to Rs 35, will affect different types of vehicles and is aimed at improving road infrastructure and ensuring better highway maintenance.
Toll Rate Increases at Major Plazas
Several key toll plazas will implement the new rates, with some vehicles, especially larger ones, facing more substantial increases. For example, the AnantRam Toll Plaza on the Kanpur-Etawah Highway will maintain its toll at Rs 110 for cars, jeeps, and light vehicles. However, the steepest hike of Rs 35 will apply to seven-axle vehicles using the Aligarh-Kanpur Highway.
Updated Toll Fees at Key Locations
Nevada Kanthi Toll Plaza (Aligarh-Kanpur Highway)
Cars, jeeps, and light vehicles: Rs 140 (up by Rs 5)
Commercial vehicles: Rs 235 (up by Rs 20)
Buses and trucks: Rs 15 increase
Six-axle vehicles: Rs 25 increase
Seven-axle vehicles: Rs 35 increase
Aliapur Toll Plaza (Kanpur-Sagar Highway, Ghatampur)
Cars, jeeps, and vans: Rs 55 (up from Rs 50)
Light commercial vehicles/minibuses: Rs 90 (up from Rs 85)
Three-axle trucks and trailers: Rs 290 (up from Rs 280)
Seven-axle vehicles: Rs 355 (up from Rs 340)
Rise in Monthly Pass Charges
In addition to the single-trip toll fees, the cost of monthly passes will also increase. The revised pass rates are as follows:
Cars, jeeps, and vans: Rs 1,835 (up from Rs 1,750)
Light commercial vehicles: Rs 2,965 (up from Rs 2,825)
Buses and trucks: Rs 6,215 (up from Rs 5,920)
Three-axle vehicles: Rs 9,745 (up from Rs 9,250)
Seven-axle vehicles: Rs 11,865 (up from Rs 11,250)
Reason Behind the Toll Increase
The additional funds will be directed toward better road upkeep, development, and enhanced services. Rohilla assured that the new toll rates would be strictly enforced from April 1, 2025, to support these upgrades.
