As Thalapathy Vijay embarks on a new political venture and bids adieu to his cine career, ‘Jana Nayagan’ marks the actor’s final outing. H Vinoth directs the film, with an ensemble cast featuring stars such as Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Prakash Raj, Narain, Gautham Menon, Priyamani, Mamitha Baiju, among others. Anirudh Ravichander composes the music for the film, which is set to release on Pongal, January 9, 2026.
Vijay recalls iconic film shoots in Malaysia
In the lead-up to the film’s release, the tracks ‘Thalapathy Kacheri,’ ‘Oru Paerae Varalaru,’ and ‘Chella Magale’ had already resonated well with the audience. Compounding the effect, the movie’s music launch was a grand event in Malaysia with Vijay giving a heartfelt, introspective, and intense speech about his past, current position, and future course of action. Vijay began by addressing his fans with affection, calling them “Aiyaa, Rasa, Chellangala,” and said that they will live forever in his heart. He spoke about the significance of Malaysia in the Tamil film industry and said that, after Sri Lanka, Malaysia has the second-largest Tamil population in the world. Recalling numerous films that were shot in Malaysia – like Billa with Ajith, and his own films like Kaavalan and Kuruvi – he thanked the Malaysian government for allowing him to hold the grand event.

Reflecting on his career, Vijay said he entered cinema dreaming of building a small sand house, but the love of fans turned it into a palace. From day one, he said, fans have travelled alongside him, not for a few days, but for over 30–33 years. That unwavering support, he explained, is the reason behind his life-changing decision.“For the people who come and stand in theatres for me, I am ready to stand for them for the next 30–33 years,” Vijay declared. “For my fans, who sacrificed everything for me, I am sacrificing cinema. This Vijay will not just say thank you and walk away, I will repay my debt of gratitude.”Addressing criticism he has faced since the beginning of his career, Vijay said it was nothing new. What truly mattered to him was that his fans stood by him relentlessly through every phase. “For those who stood for me, I will stand for them,” he reaffirmed.

When Ramya asked if anyone could replace him in the cinema, Vijay simply replied that people will always know where everyone belongs. In a rapid-fire round, he called fans his God, Amma as God above all, said betrayal is a word he dislikes, described ‘Aalaporan Tamizhan’ as something people make happen, and defined failure as continuous effort.In a lighter moment, when fans began singing ‘Yaar Petra Magano Nee’, Vijay smiled and said no matter how much they tried, he wouldn’t cry. He then posed for a selfie video with the Malaysian fans, creating a touching moment. Recalling the commencement of his film Jana Nayagan in 2023, which just happened to coincide with his entry into politics, he mentioned that he asked his director H. Vinoth whether his career in politics would affect the film.
