Greer Grammer and her father, Kelsey Grammer, had been estranged for more than 12 years. In a recent interview, the ‘Deadly Illusions’ actress delved into what happened when the two met for the first time after such a long period of time.
Greer Grammer on her father’s estrangement
The 33-year-old actress recently appeared on the ‘Pretty Basic Podcast’ where she delved into her relationship with her father. She revealed that he said some of the “meanest things” to her after they met after a 12-year-long estrangement period. She recalled meeting him again at the age of 16 after he split with her mother, stylist Barrie Buckner.She said, “[Grammer] was always my last name. I guess my dad did ask my mom — he told me this later — but he was like, ‘I told your mom… I said it might be better for you to not have my last name. It would be easier for you growing up.’” She added that Kelsey told her this when she was only 19. At the time, the actress added that, “I started sobbing, because to me that was like the meanest thing you could ever say to somebody, like… ‘I knew I wasn’t gonna be in your life, so I told my mom it would probably be easier for you to not have my last name.’”
When did Greer Grammer reconnect with her father?
The actress further recalled how the two connected again when she was a teenager. During the podcast, she revealed that she had been volunteering at the Christmas tree lot as Miss Teen Malibu as part of the community service. She shared that her father had randomly come to the space and asked her if she was Greer.She had replied that yes, she was, and her father had introduced himself to her. Greer revealed that she joked to him and said “‘I know who you are. Duh.’”
