Festive Fiesta: This is our last Eid before our marriage, say Amir and Pavni | Tamil Movie News

This Eid holds special significance for actress Pavni Reddy and choreographer-actor Amir, who will be tying the knot next month. Amidst their busy wedding preparations, the couple shares insights into their Eid celebrations…
‘FROM NOW ON, WE’LL CELEBRATE EVERY EID AS HUSBAND AND WIFE’
Amir: This is our last Eid before marriage. From now on, we’ll share every Eid as husband and wife — it feels wonderful just to say that! On Eid day, I usually wear a kurta.
Pavni: I love dressing up for festivals, and he enjoys seeing me all decked out. For Ramzan, I usually wear a churidar. If we were in Hyderabad, the celebrations would be grand with the entire family. In Chennai, our friends usually join us for lunch or dinner. We also donate food during Ramzan and other festivals.
‘WE COULDN’T PLAN ANYTHING THIS EID’
Amir: We’ve celebrated two Eids together so far. Last year, she hosted an iftar party for me — my first-ever experience of one. I’m not someone who typically celebrates festivals. Before meeting Pavni, my Ramzan and Bakrid celebrations were limited to morning prayers.
Pavni: This year, we couldn’t plan anything because of wedding preparations. Our Ramzan celebrations usually involve decorating the house, and inviting guests.
‘‘AMIR HAS ONLY RECENTLY STARTED LOVING FESTIVALS’
Pavni: Growing up, I’d eagerly wait for sheer kurma from my friends’ homes during Eid, while my mom made biryani. After Amir came into my life, Ramzan truly felt like Ramzan. It’s only now that he’s begun to enjoy festivals. For him, even birthdays used to feel like just another day, while I see festivals as celebrations.
Amir: Pavni doesn’t relax during festivals. She decorates the entire house. Once, for New Year’s Eve, she insisted on cutting a cake at midnight. I questioned if we needed a full cake just for the two of us. The cake arrived at 10.30pm; but we cut it by 11pm as she couldn’t resist it.
‘I MAKE MUTTON BIRYANI AND SHEER KURMA ON EID’
Pavni: I love mutton biryani, so I always make it along with sheer kurma on Eid. Being from Hyderabad, mutton biryani is an emotion for us. Growing up, we made mutton every Sunday at home.
Amir: I used to eat only when I was hungry, but Pavni has taught me to enjoy food. She’s a fantastic cook. Interestingly, she’s a night owl, and I’m a morning person. Our tastes differ in almost everything, but I love that about us.
‘OUR WEDDING WON’T FOLLOW JUST ONE RELIGION’
Pavni: We’re planning a single wedding function that incorporates both our religions’ traditions. I’m still finalising my dress and jewellery; his outfit was ready in a day!
Amir: Pavni is the one actively planning the wedding. For our honeymoon, we’re planning a trip to the Amazon rainforest. I’ve always loved forests, and now, so does she. We’ll be staying in a tent there.
