Trump issued an executive order instructing the secretary of education to begin shutting down the department, in one of the most drastic steps yet in the brutal overhaul of his government. Can he do it?
US President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Thursday (March 20) in an attempt to shut down the Education Department in the United States.
“We are sending education back to the states, where it so rightly belongs,” US Secretary of Education Linda McMahon said in a statement after Trump signed the order.
