DOGE head and billionaire Elon Musk has hailed President Donald Trump as the ‘Greatest President Ever’ as the latter said he will sign an executive order ditching paper straws, and implementing plastic ones instead.
President Donald Trump has confirmed that he is ready to ditch paper straws and go back to plastic. In a post shared on Truth Social on Friday (Feb 7), President Trump said he will issue an executive order to reverse Biden’s push for eco-friendly paper straws. “I will be signing an Executive Order next week ending the ridiculous Biden push for Paper Straws, which don’t work. BACK TO PLASTIC!” Donald Trump said.
Elon Musk has backed Trump and said, “Greatest President ever!”
The netizens have reacted in favour and against Elon Musk’s post. “Anyone who has ever drunk a milkshake through a paper straw is in favor of this. Insanity,” an X user wrote.
Indian Youtuber Dhruv Rathee commented, “Why are you both so obsessed with destroying the Planet? You can go live on Mars if you like but at least keep the Earth plastic pollution-free for the rest of us.”
Another netizen wrote, “Now make those plastic straws, shopping bags, bottles, etc. out of HEMP that is 10 stronger than steel, biodegradable and can be harvested in 90 days instead of 30 years.”
“Ok, this is getting ridiculous! Why are straws a priority with all the other serious issues going on in the world? This is an embarrassing,” another wrote.
“This is huge. The concerns over plastic straws are completely overblown,” another wrote.
An X user commented, “See these are one of those things I disagree with him on. Plastic straws definitely are better than paper, but they do pose a serious problem for the environment. Can’t we do a compromise where we can do those corn-derived straws that break down much sooner than plastic? I hate it when I see turtles with those straws caught in their beaks.”
Another said, “We need bags too. We need the plastic or paper bags back. Or at least force the cashiers to bag our stuff LOL. I mean we’re practically doing ALL THE WORK for the STORES AT THIS POINT. It’s wild!”
“Have u guys heard of microplastics and how it messes up your hormones? Love what ur doing but this is a step in the wrong direction,” one X user said.
