It was an evening that blended inspiration, insight, and introspection as Shilpa Shetty and holistic lifestyle coach Luke Coutinho came together for a fireside chat in Kolkata on Thursday. The session delved into Shilpa’s remarkable three-decade journey in the film industry, her evolution as a wellness advocate, and the philosophies that have shaped her approach to life. From candid reflections on success and reinvention to her emphasis on mental and spiritual well-being, the conversation offered the audience an intimate glimpse into the discipline, faith, and balance that define her both on and off screen. The art of Reinvention, resilience, and 30 years of staying relevantAt the event organised by the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC), Shilpa reflected on her three-decade journey in the film industry, especially the early struggles and lasting drive. “I was almost 17 when I joined the industry. I knew nothing and no one from it,” she shared, recalling how she even entered the business without even knowing the language. “But I’ve always been a believer in destiny – I was meant to be an actor. Someone noticed me, and my first film was a huge hit. But with success also came rejection.” For Shilpa, these setbacks are what shaped her. “When you find success early, you think it’s all going to be easy — but it’s the rejection that actually builds you,” she said. Summing up her journey, she added: “The challenge was to keep reinventing myself, stay relevant, and keep learning. I’m proud that after three decades, I can still sit here, tell my story, and say that I did it my way.”
Finding balance in a world that’s constantly rushingShilpa spoke about the importance of prioritising mental well-being in today’s hectic world. “Mental health takes precedence over physical health,” she said, emphasising that true wellness goes beyond fitness or diet. “We lead such stressful, fast-paced lives that it’s important to practice mindful breathing and mindful living.” Shilpa added that her faith and belief has been her guiding force through life’s ups and downs: “Even when things are rough on the outside, alignment from within brings peace.” Echoing the same sentiment, Fit India Champion, Luke Coutinho said, “Health is about priorities. We give our businesses time, discipline, and energy — we need to give our health the same. Unless we make health a priority, it won’t happen.”

“For me, there are three pillars – physical, emotional, and spiritual health – one can’t stand strong without harmony among all three. And, faith ties them all together,” says Shilpa“Because of our conditioning, we, women take the pressure of doing everything right – but we all make mistakes. The moment we surrender ourselves to this fact, everything else smoothly fall into place”“Have a routine to help your body form a circadian rhythm.
