Did Biden and Obama supported Doge's cost-cutting ideology? Here's what Karoline Leavitt claims
Joe Biden, Donald Trump, and Barack Obama

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt slammed Democrats, who criticised US President Donald Trump and Elon Musk‘s cost-cutting moves, by pointing the fingers on the former presidents who has said similar things in their reign.
As the Trump administration are in full swing in order to downsize the government, the Democrats, agitated by this initiative, slammed them.
Leading Democrats have joined federal workers in demonstrations outside government facilities, opposing DOGE‘s efficiency drive, Daily Mail reported.
Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and fellow legislators have described DOGE’s cost-reduction efforts as a “constitutional crisis”, with courts examining the organisation’s activities.
DOGE claims to have achieved substantial taxpayer savings by eliminating costly DEI and pro-LGBT programmes within government institutions. The organisation is also scrutinising Social Security Administration’s alleged payments to deceased recipients.
Looking at the agitated Democrats, Leavitt pointed out the fingers to Barack Obama and Joe Biden, who previously supported reducing government inefficiency.
“To all of the Democrats who are planning to protest this week, here’s an explanation on DOGE, from your party’s own beloved leaders!” Leavitt shared on X, accompanied by footage showing Obama and Biden supporting similar initiatives.
The video displays both former Democratic presidents discussing government reform and reducing unnecessary spending, aligning with DOGE’s current objectives.
“Budget reform is not an option, it’s a necessity,” Obama states in the footage from his presidency.
“We can’t sustain a system that bleeds billions of taxpayer dollars on programs that have outlived their usefulness or exist solely because of the power of politicians, lobbyists or interest groups,” he continues.
The compilation includes Obama pledging to examine each federal expenditure thoroughly.
“We are going to go through our federal budget as I promised during the campaign, page by page, line by line eliminating those programs we don’t need and insisting that those that we do need operate in a sensible, cost effective way,” the former president stated.
However, Manhattan Institute’s analysis reveals Obama’s presidency added $5 trillion in new legislative costs and increased federal debt by $4.6 trillion.
Biden appears in the footage stating, “We hope to be instilling an entire new culture that not only our administration, but every succeeding administration will in fact, pursue.”
A younger Biden emphasises transparency: “The American people are entitled to transparency. They’re entitled to be able to figure out where their dollars are going, and they’re entitled to accountability to make sure that we’re using the dollars for what we said it was for.”
The video concludes with Obama stating: “What should be easy is getting rid of the pointless waste and stupid spending that doesn’t benefit anybody.”
