'Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hai 2.0': When Shubhangi Atre denied copying Shilpa Shinde; 'I can’t change her language'

The debate on Angoori Bhabhi’s character freshly emerged on social media, with many netizens questioning the statements and comments surrounding the series. With the arrival of ‘Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hai 2.0,’ Shilpa Shinde and Shubhangi Atre have been surfacing on the internet. Shinde, who donned the role for a brief period of time before the controversies sparked, claimed that the latter actress tried to mimic her but failed in execution due to a lack of comedic skills. However, as the chapters reopened, Atre’s comments that she made earlier this year received a fresh wave of attention.

When Shubhangi Atre denied copying Shilpa Shinde

In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Shubhangi Atre addressed the accusations of copying Shilpa Shinde’s flair. “Yes, I’m aware of it, and I even responded to her. But the truth is, I am not copying her at all. Look, I completely understand. It’s a great show, and Angoori Bhabhi is such a sweet character,” she said, before adding, “It’s a very interesting role, and such characters are rarely written for television these days.” Moreover, the actress expressed that she adapted to the character’s traits and not Shinde. “When Shilpa made that comment, I did respond and made it clear that I’m not copying her in any way, especially not in my personal life. I’m simply doing what’s required within the frame of Angoori Bhabhi. If the character speaks in Bhojpuri, then I have to speak in Bhojpuri. I can’t change her language,” Shubhangi Atre said in the interview. She even elaborated that whoever would have stepped into the character, it was bound to succeed, as it was written well. Moreover, she highlighted that there were differences in the portrayal, and the individuality did change the character.
