Beverly Ortega finally speaks out about her unexpected exit from ‘The Bachelor’ |

Reality TV fans were left stunned when Beverly Ortega, a contestant on ‘The Bachelor,’ made an abrupt departure from the show. The 30-year-old insurance salesperson and social media influencer from Howard Beach, New York was set to have a one-on-one date with Grant Ellis. However, due to a sudden medical emergency, she had to bow out of the competition, leaving both the audience and her fellow contestants in shock.
During the third episode of ‘The Bachelor,’ viewers saw Grant Ellis enjoy a romantic date with Carolina Quixano, which featured an intimate dinner followed by a surprise prom. The episode also included a lively group date. However, what many didn’t expect was that Grant was also scheduled to go on a one-on-one date with Ortega. Her sudden absence raised eyebrows, as she seemed to vanish without any prior warning.
As the episode aired, there was little clarity about why Ortega had left the show. It wasn’t until fellow contestant Parisa Shifteh spoke to the cameras that audiences got a glimpse of the truth.
“Beverly got really sick,” Shifteh explained. “And later, we were informed that she wouldn’t be coming back to the house.”
Popular reality TV insider Reality Steve later revealed more details, stating that Ortega had become “very sick” after participating in a basketball date. She was immediately taken to the hospital for medical evaluation. Unfortunately, her condition prevented her from being cleared to return to the show, ultimately leading to her exit.
After remaining silent for some time, Ortega finally addressed her exit in an episode of The Bachelor Happy Hour podcast. She shared that she had been eagerly anticipating her one-on-one date with Grant Ellis, only to wake up feeling severely unwell.
“I was honestly so excited about that date,” Ortega recalled. “But the next morning, I woke up with terrible stomach pain and started throwing up. The pain was unbearable, and it lasted for 12 straight hours.”
As her symptoms worsened, the production team took her to the hospital, where doctors gave her a shocking diagnosis: appendicitis. They informed her that she needed emergency surgery as soon as possible.
Having previously undergone gallbladder removal surgery in 2018, Ortega was terrified. Her father urged her to return home to New York for the procedure, but doctors warned that traveling could be extremely dangerous, as her appendix could burst mid-flight.
“Emotionally, it took me about a month and a half to recover from everything,” she admitted. “After my surgery, my mom came to pick me up, and it just hit me—I had lost my chance to have that special moment with Grant.”
Despite the heartbreak of leaving ‘The Bachelor,’ Ortega has not given up on finding love within the franchise. She confirmed that she is eager to return for Bachelor in Paradise, where contestants from past seasons get a second chance at romance.
“I am 1000% ready for Bachelor in Paradise,” she stated. “I still want to find love. I’m 30 years old, and I’m ready for marriage, kids and a family. I’ve always been the kind of person who believes in relationships.”
Her determination to move forward despite the setback has resonated with fans, many of whom are hoping she’ll get another chance at love in the Bachelor universe.
