Anna Kendrick reportedly wants to avoid Blake Lively during the ‘Another Simple Favor’ press tour

Tension is reportedly growing between Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick as they prepare for the release of their upcoming thriller sequel, Another Simple Favor. According to RadarOnline, Kendrick is looking for ways to distance herself from Lively during the film’s promotional tour due to the actress’s ongoing legal battle with Justin Baldoni.
Kendrick and Lively have worked together before; they do not share a close friendship. Their connection is strictly professional, and Kendrick is allegedly concerned that Lively’s legal troubles could overshadow the movie’s promotion.
The film, directed by Paul Feig, is a follow-up to the 2018 hit A Simple Favor. Originally, the two stars were expected to promote the sequel together, but Kendrick has reportedly spoken to studio executives about handling her press responsibilities alone.
The legal issues surrounding Blake Lively stem from a lawsuit involving Justin Baldoni and Wayfarer Studios. Insiders believe this media attention could negatively impact the film’s box office performance, and Kendrick is apparently trying to avoid being caught up in the controversy.
According to Radar, one source shared, “Last-minute talks are happening because Anna wants to make sure she’s not dragged into Blake’s legal drama.”
Originally, both actresses were scheduled to attend interviews and events together, but Kendrick is reportedly considering promoting the film without Lively. According to RadarOnline, the situation has forced the studio to rethink its marketing approach.
According to Radar, a source explained, “The plan was for Blake and Anna to do most of the promo together, but now, Anna might do it alone because she doesn’t want every interview to turn into a discussion about Blake’s lawsuit.”
Last week, the first official poster for Another Simple Favor was released, along with news that the film would premiere at SXSW in Austin, Texas, on March 7. Lively is expected to attend the festival, but sources suggest that this could be her only public appearance for the movie’s promotion.
Although Lively is obligated to promote the film, she reportedly has control over how much she participates beyond the festival. Insiders suggest that her request for a one-month extension to file an amended complaint in her legal case might serve as a convenient excuse to step back from promotional events.
One source added, “Anna and the rest of the cast don’t expect Blake to be deeply involved in press activities. If she skips out, Anna is ready to handle things on her own.”
With the movie’s May 1 release date approaching, it remains to be seen how the promotional tour will play out. Whether the two actresses will appear together remains uncertain, but Kendrick seems prepared to take the spotlight alone if necessary.
