Amitabh Bachchan’s secret behind natural acting in 'Sholay' was Dharmendra
Fans are set to celebrate the legacy of legendary actor Dharmendra in his swan song, ‘Ikkis,’ which premieres on January 1, 2026. During a memorable episode of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati,’ Amitabh Bachchan reminisced about Dharmendra’s unmatched charisma, jokingly attributing his own heart-wrenching death scene in ‘Sholay’ to Dharmendra’s influence. Early reviews are already praising the film’s emotional depth.

On 24th November veterans actor Dharmendra at the age of 89 left for the heavenly abode. But his fans will get a chance to see him one last time on the big screen as his last film Ikkis directed Sriram Ragahavn and starring his close friend Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson Agastya Nanda has hit the theaters on 1st January 2026. The team of the film Agastya, Sriram Raghavan and Jaideep Ahlawat had reached the sets of Kaun Banega Crorepati as part of their promotion campaign. As the night went along, host Amitabh Bachchan spoke very kindly and glowingly about his pal Dharmendra. He even recalled a funny anecdote from their film Sholay written by Salim-Javed and directed by Ramesh Sippy which completed 50 years in 2025. He stated that Dharmendra was the reason behind his extremely natural acting in his death scene in the film. He said , “ One of his physical qualities he possessed was that he was a bodybuilder and one I got to witness his strength. In my death sequence in Sholay, jaha main tadap raha tha – woh unki wajah se tadap raha tha , Dharam ji had held me that tightly ( laughs) .. mere ekdum natural acting hui hai waha par “ Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra worked together in almost half a dozen films together like Sholay, Ram Balram, Chupke Chupke, Guddi, Hum Kaun Hai? , Charandas and Dost. Ikkis is getting a lot of good response from the critics and fans alike and it is all set to touch Rs 2 crore by afternoon shows. Usually the films which release in first week of January don’t get a good response at the ticket window but if Ikkis does well then one could see the curse of January go away atleast this year.
