Telugu megastar Chiranjeevi fulfilled the last wish of his late mother-in-law, Allu Kanakaratnam. The 94-year-old, who passed away in Hyderabad on Saturday due to age-related ailments, had expressed her desire to donate her eyes after her death and the ‘Vishwambhara’ actor ensured that her wish was honoured.
Chiranjeevi recalls past conversation
As per an India Today report, Chiranjeevi, after her demise, opened up about how the idea of eye donation was already close to his late mother-in-law’s heart. He recalled a past discussion they once had as a family. “Me, my mother and my mother-in-law had a conversation in the past. I asked if she is ready to donate her eyes after death. She immediately replied saying yes,” Chiranjeevi said.Remembering those words in the difficult moment, the actor mentioned that he was the first one to reach the residence of Allu Aravind after he heard the news. He asked Allu Aravind who was on his way from Bengaluru, if he was ready to donate the eyes of his mother and he said yes.The actor then contacted his long-running charitable initiative, Chiranjeevi Blood Bank, to arrange to donate her eyes, and the process was completed.In his X post, Chiranjeevi in loosely translated English, wrote, “Our mother-in-law, the wife of the late Padma Shri Allu Ramalingaiah garu, Kanakaratnamma garu, has passed away. This is deeply saddening. The love, strength, and life values she showed to our families will forever remain an inspiration to us. I pray to God for her noble soul to rest in peace. Om Shanti.”
Allu Kanakaratnam’s funeral
Allu Kanakaratnam was the wife of legendary actor and Padma Shri awardee Allu Ramalingaiah and the grandmother of actor Allu Arjun. She passed away at 1:45 AM on Saturday. At her funeral in Hyderabad, family members including Chiranjeevi, Allu Arjun and Ram Charan paid their last respects.
