AICWA demands a ban on ‘India’s Got Latent,’ calls for legal action against Ranveer Allahbadia and Samay Raina |
YouTuber and podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia and comedian Samay Raina have been deep in controversy after the latest episode of the YouTube show ‘India’s Got Latest.’. Now the issue continues to escalate, drawing condemnation from the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) and prompting a police investigation.
On X (formerly Twitter), the AICWA has released a strongly worded long statement demanding an immediate ban on ‘India’s Got Latent’ and urging legal action against Ranveer Allahbadia and Samay Raina. The film body condemned Allahbadia’s comments as “abhorrent” and “disrespectful” to societal and family values, stating that such content poses a “significant threat to the moral fabric of our society.”.
It further reads, “Representing the entire Indian film industry, AICWA officially boycotts “India’s Got Latent.” We call upon all actors, filmmakers, directors, and technicians to immediately cease any collaboration with individuals involved in this show, including host Samay Raina and Ranveer Allahbadia. Henceforth, these individuals will receive no support from the Indian film industry.”
They also shared multiple demands in the long social media post.
The AICWA also requested Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to lodge FIRs against Raina and Allahbadia and urged the government to implement stricter regulations on digital content.
As per recent reports, a Mumbai police team has visited Allahabadia’s residence as part of the investigation. A complaint has been filed against Allahbadia, Raina, social media influencer Apoorva Mukhija, popularly known by the name ‘The Rebel Kid,’ and the show’s organizers.
For the unversed, Ranveer Allahbadia made a remark on the show, which many deemed offensive. The comment went viral, leading to widespread backlash from artists and social media users.
Following the uproar, Allahbadia issued an apology, admitting that his comment was “inappropriate” and “insensitive” and that comedy was “not his forte.”.
