Actor Ashish Kapoor granted bail by Delhi’s Tis Hazari court in alleged rape case |
Dekha Ek Khwaab actor Ashish Kapoor, who was recently arrested on alleged charges of rape, has been granted bail by Delhi’s Tis Hazari Court. He was taken into custody after a woman filed a complaint against him, accusing him of sexually assaulting her in a washroom.According to reports, the actor had been placed in judicial custody following police interrogation. Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) Bhupinder Singh has now granted bail to Ashish Kapoor, subject to furnishing a bail bond of Rs 1 lakh and a surety bond in the like amount.
In his order, ASJ Singh mentioned, “Thus, in view of the aforesaid observations and discussions, the facts and circumstances that have been brought to the notice of the court in view of the documents/ CCTV footages, in particular that the accused is not required for the purpose of investigation any more, being a permanent resident of Delhi and his clean antecedents, I find merits in the bail application and the same is accordingly allowed.”The court further stated, “Despite having been taken on PC remand, no sincere efforts were made to recover the mobile phone. No searches, as per law, were carried out. There is nothing on record that the accused did not cooperate in the investigations.”The court had earlier remanded the actor to 14 days of judicial custody on September 6. He was arrested in connection with an alleged gang rape case registered on the complaint of a woman who attended the same party as him. Ashish Kapoor was arrested in Pune, Maharashtra, on September 2.
