More than a year after Jeannie Mai and Jeezy finalized their divorce following two years of marriage, she reflected on navigating such a difficult chapter in her life. The 47-year-old star has admitted that it’s been a heartbreaking experience for her.

“It’s one of the greatest pains that any human has to endure, honestly,” Mai shared in iHeartRadio’s “Question Everything” podcast. Jeannie said, “Divorce is heartbreaking, no matter what. It’s one of the greatest pains that any human has to endure, honestly.” The star added that divorce is like an inhumane thing that makes one feel like they’re experiencing death. “Divorce is just… it’s experiencing death alive. Divorce does this inhumane thing that forces you to then protect yourself to get what you need from the divorce. It’s the worst,” added Jeannie Mai.
Jeannie Mai cherishes the good times and daughter Monaco
“You never wish to corrupt something that’s so planned and intended to be forever,” she said, revealing that she still cherished the good times they shared together, including welcoming a daughter, Monaco, in January 2022. Monaco turned 4 this month. Jeannie Mai shared, “I am so lucky that Monaco was the only one when this happened. She’s not gonna remember what that turmoil is like. That’s not something I want her to ever have to think about. My job is to define peace for her.”

According to PEOPLE, Jeezy filed in September following two-and-a-half years of marriage. Details of the divorce became public in the months that followed, with Mai alleging that her former spouse was unfaithful during their marriage after he asked a judge to set legal and physical custody rights of their daughter, per documents filed in Fulton County Georgia.Mai says that despite the hardships they faced post-split, it was an experience that brought her a lot of clarity and has also been the “greatest awakening.”
