Pradosh Vrat is a significant day to offer prayers to Lord Shiva, one of the trinity God. According to the Hindu Panchang, Pradosh Vrat falls twice a month during Shukla Paksha and Krishna Paksha. This time, it will be observed as Guru Pradosh Vrat as it falls on Thursday. This month, Pradosh Vrat is going to fall on the thirteenth day or Trayodashi Tithi of Shukla Paksha on the month of Chaitra i.e., on April 10, 2025.

Guru Pradosh Vrat 2025: Significance
Pradosh Vrat is one of the most significant day to worship Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. It is considered an auspicious day when Lord Shiva is particularly open to prayers and fasting, Pradosh Vrat is observed. The day is significant because it occurs in the evening, when the day’s energies shift into the night, and it is seen as a particularly potent time for spiritual pursuits and prayer. Worshiping Lord Shiva at this time, according to devotees, brings about spiritual awakening, happiness, and purity.
Pradosh Vrat is observed twice a month, during the Shukla Paksha and the Krishna Paksha, . Devotees commemorate this day with zeal and happiness as it is believed that the earth’s energies are in balance during Pradosh, it is a particularly favorable time of year for prayer and spiritual pursuits.
Devotees are believed to be able to obtain Lord Shiva’s divine blessing through the observance of Pradosh Vrat. By observing Pradosh Vrat one can get relieved from all types of sufferings and get rid of obstacles, receive abundance, prosperity, and happiness from the Lord. It is also believed that on this auspicious day, Lord Shiva, as the cosmic dancer Nataraja, performed the Tandava and conquered the demon Apasmara. This fast is considered so powerful that it has the ability to cleanse the soul and offers salvation to the followers. This fast removes all the past sins and bring peace in the life of devotees.
Guru Pradosh Vrat 2025: Puja Rituals
On Pradosh Vrat, devotees maintain a rigorous fast. Twilight (evening time) is the time period, when the puja is performed. Devotees offer prayers to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati by lighting a diya with desi ghee and offer fruits, flowers, sweets and other offerings. People observe fast from dawn to dusk and some people break their fast next morning.
The devotion of Lord Shiva is the main component of Pradosh Vrat. In the evening, usually before sunset, devotees give prayers, recite mantras, and do diyas. Offerings to the Shiva Lingam during the worship include bilva leaves, milk, curd, ghee honey, and jal or panchamrit and seek blessings of the Lord.
