Youth rescued within hours of abduction in Patna | Patna News
Patna: Police rescued 22-year-old Sumit Kumar, a resident of Prithvipur Chiraiyatand in Patna, within hours of his abduction on Saturday. He was kidnapped in a broad daylight near the Pataliputra Sports Complex under Kankarbagh police station limits. The incident occurred when unidentified assailants forcibly pulled Sumit off his motorcycle and bundled him into a waiting car before speeding away. A local youth from a nearby slum witnessed the abduction and promptly informed Kankarbagh police, triggering an immediate response.Relying on CCTV footage and real-time tracking, the police launched search that lasted nearly two hours across different parts of the city. The chase finally ended in the Bahadurpur area, where the criminals, realizing they were cornered, abandoned their vehicle and fled on foot, leaving the abducted youth near a garden. The victim was immediately recovered and found to be safe.ASP Sadar Abhinav Kumar said on Sunday that, according to the victim’s statement, five people were involved in the kidnapping — three in the car and two on a motorcycle. A minor dispute is believed to be the reason behind the abduction. About 10 days earlier, at a tea stall, Sumit accidentally spilled tea on some youths, leading to a heated argument.“The police are conducting an independent and detailed investigation,” he stated. Authorities recovered a motorcycle belonging to the accused and are working to identify the suspects using its registration number. The ASP further said raids are currently underway to nab the criminals. The exact motive behind the kidnapping will only be confirmed once the accused are arrested, Kumar added.
