Woman caught in heroin case in Fazilka escaped from police station, 4 cops suspended | Chandigarh News

FAZILKA: Four policemen of Vero Ke police station in Fazilka district, have been suspended following a woman,arrested along with another woman accomplice, escaped from the police station on thepretext of going to the washroom.
Giving an update, Jatinder Singh Gill, DSP, Jalalabad said that the police station was on patrol during which the police party was searching the vehicles near Dana Mandi Veroka, two women were coming on a motorcycle got scared on seeing the police vehicle, started turning motorcycle backwards, which then stopped. With the help of fellow employees, the police caught both the occupants and when during search, 35 grams of heroin was recovered in their possession.
The arrested women were identified as Rekha Rani alias Lekhi daughter of Mahendra Singh Kathgarh and Mano Bai wife of Karnail Singh Kathgarh. It is being told that when they were brought to the police station, one of the two women, Rekha Rani, fled by fooling the employees on the pretext of going to the washroom in the police station. The police took action in the case and arrested the said woman within 24 hours.
However, taking serious note of the lapse, four employees including the night clerk and duty officer of Vero Ke police station have been suspended.
