“We have a lot of young hockey players,” assures Montreal Canadiens GM Kent Hughes | NHL News

Thanks to the 4-Nations Face-Off. The Montreal Canadiens got their much-needed break before the 2024-2025 NHL season resumed. That one break gave them a new motive to score well, perform well, and somehow land the wild card spot in the playoffs at the Eastern Conference! Something that had stayed a dream for them since the 2020-2021 NHL season! That was the last time the Montreal Canadiens ever made a run at the Stanley Cup championship.
Kent Hughes, the general manager of the Montreal Canadiens, gave the current credit for the young players in his team now. Sharing with The Athletic’s Pierre LeBrun, Kent Hughes said, “We will be very engaged in terms of exploring ways that we can make us a better hockey team. We can’t be short-sighted in how we go about it, that’s all. We’ve got to consider the present and the future in every decision that we make, given that we have a lot of really good young hockey players that we expect to be with us for a very long time.”
