The performer, Payal Choudhary, was attacked on stage when she pushed away a man’s hand holding currency notes. The assault escalated, with multiple individuals joining in, and other dancers and an intervener were also beaten.

FARIDABAD: A dancer performing at a pre-wedding celebration in Haryana’s Nuh district was assaulted after objecting to inappropriate behaviour by a relative of the groom, police said.The performer, identified as Payal Choudhary. The incident occurred on November 16.Footage of the incident shows a man holding currency notes bringing his hand too close to one of the dancers. She is seen slapping it away, after which he hits her, sparking a sudden confrontation on stage.Several men then climb onto the platform and surround the performers. The attacker and others push the dancer to the ground and strike her repeatedly, including with a stick. Two other dancers and a man who tried to intervene were also beaten.Police said they are examining videos of the assault and identifying those involved. An investigation is under way.
