UP: Man shoots daughter at restaurant, injures her boyfriend; arrested | Varanasi News
VARANASI: The man who shot his 15-year-old daughter and injured her 20-year-old boyfriend at a restaurant in the Devgaon Kotwali area of Azamgarh district on Friday was arrested on Saturday. SP City Madhuban Kumar Singh said the Devgaon Kotwali police apprehended the accused father on Saturday. According to reports, the boy’s mother filed a complaint against the girl’s father at the police station. Based on this, the police registered a case of murder and attempted murder, arrested the accused, and recovered his licensed revolver. After the girl’s post-mortem, her cremation took place at Rajghat on Saturday. The girl and the boy had gone to a restaurant on the Lalganj Bypass around 1:30 pm on Friday. The girl’s father arrived at the location, and after a brief argument with his daughter, he pulled out his licensed revolver and fired at her and her boyfriend. He then fled the scene. Witnesses immediately alerted the police, and both victims were taken to a hospital in Lalganj. They were later referred to an advanced hospital following deterioration in their condition. The girl died during treatment, while the boy remains in critical condition at a hospital in Varanasi.
