Patna: Union minister Rajiv Ranjan, aka Lalan Singh, on Sunday launched sharp attacks on RJD leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, accusing him and the opposition alliance of misleading the public and lacking credibility.He said Tejashwi tried to play smart by fixing his date of swearing-in well before the announcement of election results but ended up facing a poll disaster. The opposition INDIA bloc, which named Tejashwi as its CM face, managed to win only 35 assembly seats this time against the NDA’s 202 in the 243-member Bihar assembly.
Talking to reporters in Patna on Sunday, Singh, who holds the portfolio of fisheries, animal husbandry & dairying, and panchayati raj, slammed Tejashwi for “spreading confusions’ in society about the govt’s disbursement of Rs10,000 to 1.40 crore women and said he was punished for this fault. “He faced the consequences of spreading confusion in society. Nobody knows where he is hiding right now,” Singh mocked and also took a dig at the RJD leader’s move of fixing his date of swearing-in before the results of the assembly polls came in.“You set out to play the leader, and look where you have ended up. You have barely managed to become leader of the opposition,” the minister said. Singh said the people of the state are still very much aware of Lalu Prasad’s 15-year-old “Jungle Raj” and don’t want to let the opposition party come to power.As regards the Nitish Kumar govt’s announcement of providing 1 crore jobs and employment to youths in the next five years, the minister said fulfilling the poll promises has been the USP of the CM. “Whatever promises Nitish Kumar made in the past were fulfilled, and the current promise of providing 1 crore jobs too will be fulfilled…this has been the USP of Nitish Kumar,” the minister said.Singh, who is a senior JD(U) leader, is considered close to Nitish.
