Tea seller celebrates PM Modi’s birthday with free tea and rasagolas in Puri | Bhubaneswar News

Puri: Since 2014, a tea seller in Puri has been offering free tea and rasagolas to all customers for a day to celebrate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday. The scene at Akshaya Jayasingh’s tea stall near the Town Hall Square in front of the main post office here was no different on Wednesday, when Modi turned 75.Jayasingh decorated his shop with flowers, balloons and large portraits of the PM. As part of the celebration, he distributed 2,000 rasagolas and prepared tea using 2 quintals of milk for visitors. Puri MP Sambit Patra also dropped by the stall, sipped tea and tasted rasagolas.Patra said, “We fondly call him Akhi Bhai. Though he is a small businessman, his devotion and emotion are extraordinary. Since 2014, he has been celebrating the PM’s birthday at his shop by offering free tea and sweets. His effort to showcase Modi ji’s life and political journey through photo exhibitions is commendable.”Patra later shared photos on his social media account and praised Jayasingh’s effort, calling it a reflection of the deep bond between ordinary citizens and the PM.Jayasingh, who has been organising the celebration since 2014, spends around Rs 20,000-Rs 25,000 for the event. “I have no political affiliations. I do not use banners or posters. I only love and admire the Prime Minister. His governance, foreign policy, welfare schemes and the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat inspire me deeply. The fact that a tea seller became Prime Minister fills me with pride,” he said.He added that when Modi’s mother passed away, he conducted rituals as if he were a brother, arranging meals for 108 Brahmins. “I only wish to meet him once. Modi ji is the Prime Minister of the poor, and he meets people from all walks of life. I am sure one day he will meet me too,” Jayasingh said.
