Skeletal remains found in toilets of abandoned PHC wing | Bhubaneswar News

Balangir: Skeletal remains were found inside two toilets of a derelict wing of the Bhainsa primary health centre (PHC) in Balangir district on Sunday. The discovery prompted a police investigation to ascertain the origin and identity of the remains, which are suspected to be of infants.Locals noticed the remains and promptly alerted hospital authorities, who subsequently informed police. Officers from Patnagarh police station and a forensic team arrived at the scene and collected evidence for analysis. Experts will verify whether the remains are human and, if confirmed, determine their approximate age and cause of death.“The forensic team has collected the skeletal remains from the scene and sent them for examination. It is premature to confirm that the recovered skeletons are human. We have to wait for the forensic report,” said Haribandhu Gadtia, inspector in-charge of Patnagarh police station.According to initial findings, the skeletons were of two individuals which were discovered in two old, disused urinals situated behind the PHC’s new building. The Bhainsa PHC had relocated to a new facility some time ago, with the old campus abandoned and unused for years.Locals reported the structure had fallen into disrepair and was largely neglected, with no maintenance or security measures in place. Residents have voiced concerns about potential foul play, urging authorities to conduct a comprehensive investigation.
