Shankaracharya ends 33-day yatra with call to protect cows
Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati in Patna on Monday

Patna: Jagadguru Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwarananda Saraswati concluded his 33-day ‘Gaumatadata Sankalp Yatra’ in Patna on Monday. He visited several villages and towns in Bihar during his yatra to appeal to the voters to take the pledge of protecting cows and vote in the assembly elections to those only who are against cow slaughter. He urged “sanatani” voters to understand the importance of their vote. “They should also consider whether their vote is making them a partner in the sin of cow slaughter. Voters should not think what will their few votes achieve? The truth is that every vote cast by the people of Bihar will bring immense power to protect ‘mother cow’.”Shankaracharya said a new beginning of sanatani politics in the country has begun from Bihar. He said cows are not just milk, but a true blessing. “Majority of the population in the country are Sanatanis, but there is no one to listen to their feelings or suffering. The issue of cow protection is not merely a political issue, but a question of their existence and faith,” he said.Talking about Bihar’s original indigenous breeds, he added, “Despite legal restrictions, our breeds have become extinct because we neglected them due to their low milk yield. This sin, committed through economic neglect, cross-breeding, and illegal smuggling, is no less than cow slaughter.”
