SALEM: A senior citizen collapsed and died at the Salem Town police station on Friday night after being taken there by his employer to settle a money dispute between them.The deceased has been identified as Duraisamy, 65, of Thammampatti.Four months ago, Duraisamy brought an old two-wheeler from his employer Veerasambu, who is a deed writer.On Friday, Veerasambu encountered Duraisamy as the latter had failed to pay him the money for the two-wheeler. Veerasambu engaged in a heated argument with Duraisamy.He took Duraisamy to the Salem Town police station in an autorickshaw. At the station, when the cops interrogated him, Duraisamy agreed to return the two-wheeler to Veerasambu and consented to provide a written statement. “Suddenly, Duraisamy collapsed,” said a police officer.He was taken to the Salem Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College and Hospital where doctors examined him and declared him dead. His body was released to his relatives after a postmortem on Saturday.A case of suspicious death was registered.
