Saarc forgotten word and that’s a shame: Yunus
DHAKA: Amid strained ties with India, Bangladesh chief adviser Muhammad Yunus on Tuesday called for the revival of Saarc as he urged its member countries to “work together and learn from each other”. “Saarc as a word has been forgotten and that’s a shame on us,” he said at an edcuation conference linked to the grouping comprising Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. “I am repeatedly reminding that we must get back to Saarc. That’s where our family belongs. I will not give up repeating that appeal to the govts of the region,” Yunus said. “Our region is one totality. It’s not a piece that doesn’t fit into the picture. It is a one whole picture. We work together. We learn from each other. We are a family,” he said.
