Renovation of Mangal Talab nears completion: Official | Patna News
Patna: Renovation of the centuries-old Mangal Talab, located in Patna Sahib, is progressing at a fast pace, with around 85% of the work completed so far, an official said.The project, worth over Rs14 crore, includes the development of several facilities aimed at transforming the historic pond into a major tourist attraction. These include a musical fountain, laser shows, boating facilities and an eco-park. According to officials, the beautification and redevelopment are expected to attract tourists, especially those visiting Takhat Shri Harimandir Ji Patna Sahib, by adding modern amenities.The project is being executed jointly by the urban development and housing department and the Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation (BSTDC).The pond has already been renovated, while the park and flower beds have been developed and the entrance gate constructed. Work on the laser show is currently underway.According to a BSTDC official, the area will have designated spaces for food stalls and parking. Security personnel will be deployed and CCTV cameras installed to ensure visitors’ safety. “There will be an open gym and jogging tracks around the talab,” the official said.The redeveloped site will also feature spaces for yoga, a children’s play area and a herbal garden with cemented seating, colourful flowers and other attractions. A 120-foot-tall national flag, symbolising patriotism and national pride, will be installed on the campus. The entrance gate will also be creatively designed.The official said the redevelopment would make Mangal Talab a popular destination for both tourists and local residents.
