Ranchi: In a bid to strengthen the state capital’s solid waste management system and ensure accountability, the Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) has begun penalizing homeowners and commercial establishments who have not their paid their solid waste user charges (SWUC).RMC officials said a list of 100 major defaulters, who have not paid SWUC between April 2022 and December 2025, have been prepared. Notices are being issued to them to pay their charges within a week.Major defaulters include residential complexes, hotels, banquet halls, hostels, shopping malls, and other commercial establishments.“The user charge is essential for maintaining solid waste management services. Defaulters have been given sufficient time, and strict legal action will follow if dues are not cleared within the deadline,” an RMC official said on anonymity.Collection of SWUC across all wards of the RMC is being carried out through a designated agency, the RMC said. Officials said payments can be made through RMC’s official portal, designated counter at its office and through doorstep collection using helpline number 0651-3131001.
