Ranchi Minors Rescued: Ansh and Anshika Safe After 12 Days Missing

Ranchi: The residents of Bada Khatal in Dhurwa erupted in celebrations on Wednesday after Ansh and Anshika, the two minors from the slum who were missing for 12 days, were rescued from Ramgarh.Besides the parents and neighbours of the minor siblings, hundreds of people from various parts of the state capital gathered at the slum as the news broke. The locality then broke into an untimely Holi celebration as the people smeared each other colours and lit crackers to mark the safe return of the children. Celebrations went on till late in the evening.Jagarnath Singh, a local, said, “We used to come here every morning, hoping to get good news about the safe return. Our joy knew no bounds when we learnt around 8 am that Ansh and Anshika were rescued. Celebrations began 30 minutes later.”Sarita Devi, another neighbour, said, “We all are glad the children returned safely. All these days, we swung between hope and despair as the thought of something terrible happening to them also lingered in our minds.”Kailash Yadav, state spokesperson of the RJD and convenor of Ansh-Anshika Bachao Sangharsh Samiti, lauded the police personnel. “Despite the case being challenging, they worked round the clock, which led to their success,” he said. Yadav demanded that the kidnappers be put through strict punishment for their crime.Sunil Yadav, the father of Ansh and Anshika, thanked the police. The cops, however, shielded him and the rest of his family members from the media. Sunil, however, did not respond to TOI’s calls and messages when called later in the evening.
