Puttur firm rewards employees with flight experience for their hardwork | Mangaluru News

MANGALURU: A Puttur-based agricultural equipment manufacturing company, SRK Ladders, rewarded its employees, including labourers, with a flight experience in recognition of their tireless efforts in fulfilling record-breaking orders between Jan and March this year.
Keshava Amai, Proprietor, SRK Ladders, told TOI that the firm has a tradition of celebrating May Day with its employees. “Last year, we hosted a sports meet and felicitated 33 labourers from the Koila Cattle Farm. We considered making it an annual tradition,” he said.
However, this year called for something extra. “From Jan to March, our labourers and staff put in long hours, often starting early or working late into the night, to meet the surge in orders. While we follow company policy in providing overtime pay and other incentives, I felt we needed to do something more meaningful to thank them,” Amai said.
During an April 1 staff meeting, Keshava offered the employees various options to celebrate: a bonus, sports day, party, or a tour. An overwhelming number expressed a desire to travel, with 48 employees revealing they had never even seen an airport.
By the first week of April, the plan was set. A two-day trip to Bengaluru was arranged on May 1 and 2 with 51 persons including Keshava. The employees took a bus from Puttur to Mangaluru International Airport and boarded a flight to Bengaluru, landing at Terminal 2. From there, an air-conditioned bus took them around the city. The itinerary included a cultural programme as an anchor, and a singer was also travelling with them. There was also a felicitation for labourers from a Bengaluru firm.
Though rain forced a few last-minute changes, with the programme being cut short. After a grand dinner and overnight stay in Bengaluru, the group proceeded to Mysuru early the next morning, visited Bylakuppe, and returned to Puttur by 11 p.m. on May 2.
“This was more than just a reward. For many, it was a lifelong dream come true,” Keshava added.
The employees appreciated the gesture and arrangements as Keshava also travelled with them.
