Punjab gang war turns personal: Gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria’s mother shot dead in Batala; Bambiha gang takes responsibility | Amritsar News

AMRITSAR: Notorious gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria’s mother, Harjit Kaur, and his close aide, Karanvir, were shot dead here on Thursday night.Senior Superintendent of Police, Batala, Suhail Qasim Mir, informed on Friday that Harjit Kaur and Karanvir were traveling in a vehicle when, upon reaching near their house in the Urban Estate area, unidentified assailants on a motorcycle opened indiscriminate fire on them.Karanvir, the son of an Assistant sub-inspector with the police, died on the spot. Jaggu’s mother sustained multiple bullet injuries and was rushed to the hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.Following the attack, the assailants fled the scene. Police cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to locate the attackers.

Bambiha gang takes responsibility
It has been learned that both victims had gone to Tarn Taran in connection with a court case and were returning home on Thursday night when the incident occurred.No arrests have been made so far, confirmed SSP Suhail Qasim Mir, adding that a high-level investigation is underway.In a viral social media post, two gangsters from Haryana — Prabhu Dasuwal and Kaushal Chaudhary — claimed responsibility for the attack. Both are believed to be associated with the Bambiha gang. However, police have not officially confirmed this link yet.
