Patna: An FIR was registered against unidentified assailants at Patrakar Nagar police station following the brazen murder of Aman Shukla (39), a convicted bank robber released from jail in May 2025.The case was lodged based on the statement of Shukla’s wife, who witnessed the attack along with their nine-year-old son while they were returning home from a therapy centre.Patna SSP Kartikeya Sharma said the accused would be arrested soon, with probes focusing on old rivalries, gangwars, money disputes from past crimes, and a possible love affair angle.“Valuable leads emerged from his cellphone. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed, scrutinising over 80 CCTV footages, with multiple teams conducting raids,” he said.The incident took place around 6pm on Monday near Vidyapuri Park, when two assailants on a bike fired multiple rounds at Shukla, while his wife and child escaped unharmed. He succumbed to his injuries during treatment.Shukla had a notorious criminal past and was a key accused in the 2020 daylight robbery of Rs52.33 lakh from Punjab National Bank’s Anisabad branch in Beur, Patna.Patna SP (East) Parichay Kumar told TOI on Tuesday that the case was registered and the investigation was underway. “We are probing the case from multiple angles and will crack the case within a couple of days,” he said, adding that the police could not rule out the involvement of family members in the murder.
