Porvorim elevated corridor delayed due to traffic diversion issues: PWD minister

Panaji: With the progress of the six-lane elevated corridor project at Porvorim considerably slowing down, the completion deadline for the Rs 640 crore project has been pushed to late 2026, if not later.PWD minister Digambar Kamat said that the inability to divert traffic has prompted the company building the flyover to reduce the pace of work. “The work is delayed. We have to make a decision about diversions and traffic flow, and only then can we know when the work will get done,” said Kamat.State govt chose to slow down the pace of work to avoid shutting down NH 66, as the suggested diversion led to traffic snarls and congestion on the interior roads of Porvorim. One of the proposals to ensure that the project remains on schedule is to undertake work at night while keeping the road open for traffic during the day.
