Police on high alert ahead of BCY chief’s visit to Karedu village aimed at opposing Indosol project land acquisition | Vijayawada News

TIRUPATI: The Kandukur police are on a high alert ahead of Bharata Chaitanya Yuvajana (BCY) party founder Bode Ramachandra Yadav’s visit to Karedu village on Sunday intended to extend solidarity to the farmers and to oppose the state govt’s land acquisition proposal for the Indosol solar project. The local farmers, who have been vehemently opposing the state govt’s move to forcibly acquire close to 8500 acres of fertile agricultural lands in and around Karedu village for the establishment of the Indosol solar project, had recently sought the support of various political parties to put up a united fight against the state govt’s land acquisition move.Based on the instructions from the state govt, local police had filed cases on scores of farmers following protests carried out by them at Karedu in June this year, which prompted the farmers to seek the support of various political parties to further strengthen their agitation against the land acquisition plans of the state govt.Taking a strong exception to the manner in which the farmers were being targeted and their voices being stifled with cases, Ramachandra Yadav warned the state govt to immediately withdraw the land acquisition move or be prepared to face the wrath of the farming community. He added that he will extend solidarity to the farmers by meeting them at Karedu village on Sunday.
