PCB rejects Bangladesh’s tri-series invite, cites player workload and BBL commitments | Cricket News
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has declined an invitation from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to participate in a triangular T20 series in December featuring Sri Lanka. A senior PCB official confirmed that while the series was intended as preparation for 2026 T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka, Pakistan opted out due to workload management and prior player commitments.Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW!The official revealed that several frontline players — including Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf and Shadab Khan — have already been granted NOCs to participate in the Big Bash League in Australia during December and January. “Some other players like Fakhar Zaman are appearing in the Emirates International League,” he was quoted as saying by PTI.
While Pakistan has no international fixtures during that period, the board had earlier decided to allow its key players to feature in overseas leagues, particularly the BBL. The PCB also honoured Cricket Australia’s request to have Pakistani players available for the full duration of the tournament.The official further noted that from February onward, Pakistan faces a packed schedule stretching into 2026, including multiple World Test Championship series and the Pakistan Super League (PSL), making workload management a key priority.
