Noida Woman Murder: NCW condemns murder of woman in Noida over suspicion of affair | Noida News

NEW DELHI: The National Commission for Women (NCW) has strongly condemned the brutal murder of a woman in Noida who was allegedly killed by her husband with a hammer over suspicions of infidelity. NCW Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar has demanded immediate police action and arrest of the accused, with a status report to be submitted within three days.
An FIR has been filed under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and the Commission has called for a thorough and time-bound investigation of the case.
The NCW shared their stance on social media platform X, stating, “NCW strongly condemns the brutal murder of a woman in Noida, reportedly killed by her husband with a hammer over suspicion of an affair. Such horrific violence has no justification. Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar has directed the Police for an immediate arrest of the accused, Fan IR under BNS, and a time-bound, fair investigation. ATR to be submitted within 3 days.”
The Commission has been advocating for stricter laws and swift enforcement to protect women from violent crimes.
In a separate development last month, the NCW welcomed the Supreme Court’s decision to stay a controversial judgment by the Allahabad High Court regarding an attempted rape case.
The Allahabad High Court had ruled that grabbing a minor girl, breaking her pyjama string, and attempting to drag her into a culvert did not constitute attempted rape.
The Supreme Court took suo motu cognizance of this ruling, which had generated significant public outrage.
NCW Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar discussed this matter with Minister of State for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal.
The Supreme Court bench strongly criticized the High Court’s judgment, describing it as “shocking” and displaying a lack of sensitivity.
“It is a serious matter. Total insensitiveness on the part of the judge. This was at the stage of issuing summons. We are sorry to use such harsh words against the judge,” said Justice Gavai of the Supreme Court bench, which included Justices BR Gavai and Augustine George Masih.
The matter was brought to the Chief Justice of India’s attention by senior advocate Shobha Gupta through the organization ‘We the Women of India’ regarding the March 17 order of the Allahabad High Court.
The NCW continues to monitor and respond to cases involving women’s safety and justice across India.
