Nissan crosses 1.2 million vehicle exports from India: Magnite leads the charge
Nissan India has marked a major export milestone, rolling out its 1.2 millionth made-in-India vehicle from the Kamarajar Port in Ennore, Tamil Nadu. The symbolic unit, a Nissan Magnite headed for the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) markets was officially flagged off by Saurabh Vatsa, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India. With this achievement, Nissan once again highlights India’s importance as a global manufacturing and export hub, especially within the company’s AMIEO (Africa, Middle East, India, Europe, and Oceania) operations.While the Magnite remains the backbone of Nissan’s India lineup, the automaker previously shipped a range of models from its Chennai plant including the Sunny, Micra, and Kicks to destinations across Africa, the Middle East, Latin America, and Southeast Asia. These models were eventually phased out following low domestic demand and the shift to BS6 emission standards.
At present, the Magnite is the brand’s sole export model from India, reaching customers in 65 international markets across both left-hand-drive and right-hand-drive configurations. Its growing popularity overseas continues to fuel Nissan’s export volumes and reinforces India’s role as a cornerstone of the company’s global operations. This milestone not only celebrates Nissan’s sustained manufacturing presence in India but also underscores how a single compact SUV has become a global success story taking the “Made in India” badge to roads across the world.The Nissan Magnite is now on sale in more than 65 countries worldwide, catering to both right-hand-drive and left-hand-drive markets. When Nissan launched the Magnite facelift, the company highlighted its goal of reinforcing its presence not just in India but also in global markets. In India, the Magnite facelift is offered in six variants – Visia, Visia Plus, Acenta, N-Connecta, Tekna, and Tekna+. It’s priced between Rs 5.61 lakh to Rs 10.9 lakh (ex-showroom). The 1.0-litre NA petrol engine is offered in all variants, whereas the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol unit is offered from Acenta onwards.
In terms of features, the SUV gets LED headlights, DRLs, fog lamps, LED tail lamps, 16-inch alloy wheels, an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, rear AC vents, automatic climate control, 360-degree camera, wireless charger, 7.0-inch digital instrument, auto-dimming IRVM, type-C charging ports and more. Safety-wise, it gets six airbags, ESC, three-point seatbelts and seatbelt reminders for all seats, as standard.Recently, Magnite also scored a full five-star safety rating at the Global NCAP for adult occupancy and 3 stars for child safety. The SUV has now scored an impressive 32.31 out of 34 for adult protection and 33.64 out of 49 in the child safety assessment. The Magnite is offered with two engine options – 1.0-litre NA petrol with 72hp of power, 96Nm of torque, and a 1.0-litre turbo petrol with 100hp of power, 160Nm of torque. A 5-speed manual gearbox is standard across both. The NA petrol is offered with a 5-speed AMT, whereas the turbo-petrol engine gets a CVT option. Nissan claims a fuel efficiency of 20kpl with the manual and 17.4kpl for the CVT turbo variants.
