Mulgao locals to march to assembly over mining lease dispute

Bicholim: Mulgao locals have decided to march to the Goa Legislative Assembly with the govt having not excluded the houses from the mining lease. It has been the demand of the locals that the mining be permitted to be carried out in accordance with the mining lease.
Maheshwar Parab, a local, said they have decided to march to the assembly during an upcoming session with at least 400-450 farmers. They will decide on the date of the morcha later, he told reporters on Saturday after the villagers meet.
Putulo Gad, another local, said their demands have gone unheard even as several gram sabha resolutions about their demands have been submitted to the govt.
Vasant Gad, devasthan president, said their main demand is to exclude houses, water bodies, and temples from the mining lease but govt has not shown any interest in resolving the issue.
Prakash Parab, another resident, narrated the ill effects to be faced by the villagers if the demarcation is done at a distance of 50m from the last house as proposed by the company. Former sarpanch Trupti Gad, Govind Mandrekar, Madhukar Halarnkar, and many locals attended the meeting.
