Members of Prince Khan gang arrested in Palamu

Daltonganj: Two men were arrested for allegedly conspiring to extort a jeweller through intimidation under directions of gangster Prince Khan. The suspects, Md Nazeem (25) and Murtuza Ansari (28) were arrested on Thursday and placed in judicial custody on Friday, Palamu SP Reeshma Rameshan said.The plot came to light after a social media post by Prem Singh of Chatra featured a threat call from Prince Khan and flashed the gangster’s number. Khan allegedly directed Nazeem, a petty criminal, to open fire in a congested area of Daltonganj and paid an advance of Rs 24,000 for the job. However, Nazeem could not muster courage for the job, Sadar subdivisional police officer Mani Bhushan Prasad said.Two country-made pistols, two ammunition rounds, two mobile phones and other items were seized from the accused. The accused under various sections of BNS and Arms Act.A jewellery bill found in Nazeem’s possession contained the phone number of jeweller Ranjit Kumar Soni, which Nazeem passed to Prince Khan. The gangster then sent Soni a pre-recorded extortion voicemail via WhatsApp demanding Rs 1 crore. Soni lodged an FIR on December 21 at Town Police Station and a team led by T M Manowar under SDPO Prasad cracked the case on December 25 near a political party office in Daltonganj.
