Meerut bizman’s son dies in road accident in South America | Meerut News

Meerut: Cyclist Mohit Kohli, a native of Meerut and a citizen of England, died in a road accident in South America. The 36-year-old NRI was son of Praneet Kohli, who owns a gun business in Meerut and Delhi.
Kohli was in the middle of a cross to break the world record for the fastest lap through South America on a standard bicycle. He wanted to set a record by covering 10,000 kilometers.
As stated in a web portal of Spanish-language radio station, Lieutenant Alexis Gutiérrez Corbalán, from the Traffic Accident Investigation Section (SIAT) of the Iquique Police, explained that the accident occurred around on Wednesday morning, when the cyclist was run over by a minibus. “Due to the severity of his injuries, he lost his life. That is why the investigative team was requested to analyze the elements and traces present on the road to determine the dynamics and the underlying cause of this accident,” said the police officer.
Rajeev Jain, a neighbour of his native home, said, “His family migrated to Delhi two decades ago and it’s been long since I met him. His father used to come here in India sometimes.”
“He wanted to establish his identity as a cyclist, for which he was continuously striving. Recently, Mohit Kohli aimed to set a record by cycling 10,000 kilometres at high speed in South America, but fate had other plans,” said another neighbour Vicky Algah.
Before starting his journey, Mohit shared a message on social media, saying, “I am embarking on a lifelong adventure, attempting to break the world record for the fastest bicycle crossing of South America, starting from Cartagena, Colombia, and cycling across the continent. Facing breathtaking landscapes, tough climbs, and unpredictable weather. I am excited about taking on this challenge to the finish line in Ushuaia, Patagonia. Let’s ride together.”
