Maruti Suzuki Victoris becomes 1st Maruti SUV with 5-star GNCAP rating: Details

Maruti Suzuki India recently revealed the Maruti Suzuki Victoris SUV in the Indian market. The Victoris will be positioned between the Brezza and the Grand Vitara in the company’s lineup, and it will be retailed exclusively through Maruti’s ARENA dealerships. The name Victoris is derived from Latin, meaning “victory.” Interested customers can book the new Victoris online or by visiting their nearest Maruti Suzuki Arena dealerships, The booking amount is set at Rs 11,000.The Victoris has already secured a 5-star safety rating by BNCAP. It scored an impressive 31.66 out of 32 points for adult occupant safety and 43.00 out of 49 points for child safety. And now, the Victoris has also secured a 5-star safety rating by GNCAP. It has scored an impressive (AOP) score of 33.72 out of 34, and a (COP) score of 41 out of 49.

In the frontal offset deformable barrier test, the Victoris secured 15.807 out of 16 points. As per GNCP the SUV offered strong protection to the driver’s head, neck, pelvis, thighs, left tibia, and feet, all rated at the highest level of safety. Chest and right tibia protection were considered satisfactory. For the passenger in the front seat, the head, neck, chest, pelvis, thighs, and tibia all received the top safety grade.In the side movable deformable barrier test, the SUV secured 15.913 out of 16 points. During the side pole impact test, every body region of the driver achieved the best possible rating, earning a complete approval. The same outcome applied to the side movable deformable barrier assessment, with the only exception being the chest area, which was judged slightly lower at an “adequate” level. Importantly, the Victoris’ bodyshell was found to be stable in the frontal crash assessment.

Talking about the child occupant protection, it has secured a total of 41 points out of 49 points and a dynamic score of 24 out of 24 and in child restraint system installation it secured a perfect 12 out of 12 points. When fitted with child restraint systems, the Victoris secured a perfect 24 in dynamic testing. Both the 18-month-old and 3-year-old child dummies recorded the maximum score for side impact safety, while frontal impact results stood at 8 out of 8 for each dummy.
Safety features include 6 airbags, discs on all four brakes, electronic parking brake, 360-degree camera and level 2 ADAS features such as automatic emergency brake, adaptive cruise control with curve speed reduction, lane keep assist, high beam assist, rear cross traffic alert, blind spot monitor with lane change alert and more.Talking about the powertrain, the new Victoris is offered with two engine options – a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, NA petrol engine and a 1.5-litre, strong hybrid petrol engine. The 1.5-litre NA engine puts out 103 hp of power and 139 Nm of torque. It comes with two transmission options – a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic, and it also gets an AWD option. Additionally, it’s also offered with a CNG option with an underbody tank. The 1.5-litre string hybrid engine comes paired with an e-CVT automatic.
