Panaji: As rain continued to lash the state, landslides were reported in several areas, including on the Amboli-Goa route, disrupting traffic.Retaining walls collapsed at Dukle Heaven, St Inez, and in Margao town, causing a landslide from Alta Monte behind Grace Church onto Damodar Chambers. Residents said they alerted authorities about a potential disaster, but no measures were taken.A portion of a slab at the Mapusa vegetable market came crashing down. Meanwhile, Mapusa municipality found all sorts of plastic, including hundreds of plastic bottles, garbage, mattresses, and other items, choking drains and nullahs.Rainwater began leaking into Goa College of Pharmacy, Panaji, and a woman was injured in Savoi Verem after a tree collapsed on her house. Traffic jams showed no signs of abating along the construction of the elevated corridor in Porvorim-Guirim.At Margao, work continued on the Rawanfond bridge, which was closed to the public following the collapse of the embankment, thereby diverting traffic.Works on Pai Tiatrist Auditorium at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, came to a standstill due to the rain and will be closed until June 1.
