Kendrick Perkins says Michael Malone is best fit to replace Tom Thibodeau as New York Knicks coach, but internet disagrees | NBA News

The trend of coach firings after a team performs well in the NBA seems to have become the norm now. As soon as the New York Knicks were eliminated from the Eastern Conference Finals, head coach Tom Thibodeau was fired. Now, Kendrick Perkins has suggested the name of former Denver Nuggets coach Michael Malone as a contender to fill the vacancy.
Kendrick Perkins reveals why Michael Malone can be new New York Knicks coach
Many believe the New York Knicks already had another option in sight when they decided to show Tom Thibodeau the door. Pitching for Malone, Kendrick Perkins said on ESPN, “It might have to be Michael Malone. I mean, when you talk about championship experience, what other coach is out there? He’s from the New York area, born and raised, went to high school right down the street from where Kyrie Irving grew up. … I don’t know who they are gonna hire. I think Michael Malone is probably the best fit if they’re trying to win now, because he is a championship-level coach.”
Internet disagrees with Michael Malone as a choice for New York Knicks coach
However, Perkins’ suggestion received a mixed response—mostly negative—on X. One user questioned, “Why would they hire Malone when he’s exactly like Thibs.” Another reacted, “I hope the Knicks stay far away from Malone.” One more said, “Michael Malone gets fired from the Nuggets for lack of Bench play and development of the Bench he’s the best possible option for the Knicks who just fired they’re coach for Lack of Bench play and developing their Bench Great take @KendrickPerkins.”An X user also claimed why Malone may turn down the offer if made: “Mike Malone has openly and loudly complained irresponsible coach firings. This would be a bit hypocritical to take a job that just irresponsibly fired a coach,” wrote an X user. A comment also read: “Yeah, cause Malone was so keen on utilizing his bench and playing young players. If the target really is Malone, then they would have been better off just keeping Thibs and running it back.”Also Read: New York Knicks part ways with head coach Tom Thibodeau after historic Eastern Conference Finals run and best season in 25 yearsMalone has a powerful resume, holding a success rate of 471–327 and a 44–36 record in the playoffs.
