Indian national stabbed to death in Canada’s Ottawa; suspect in custody

NEW DELHI: The high commission of India in Ottawa on Saturday confirmed the death of an Indian national who was fatally stabbed in Rockland, a town located near the Canadian capital.
In a statement posted on social media platform X, the Indian embassy in Canada confirmed the tragic incident and said it was in touch with local authorities and community groups.
“We are deeply saddened by the tragic death of an Indian national in Rockland near Ottawa, due to stabbing. Police has stated a suspect has been taken into custody. We are in close contact through a local community association to provide all possible assistance to the bereaved kin.”
According to the high commission, local police have arrested a suspect in connection with the incident. It further stated that it is coordinating with a community association in Canada to ensure the family of the deceased receives all necessary support.
