How to get Cherrim in Pokemon Go | Esports News

Cherrim is the cherry blossom Pokémon that has 2 unique forms in Pokémon GO— Overcast and Sunshine. Evolving Chrubi into Cherrim is not just about collecting candies. One must also understand the weather effects, spawn mechanics, and how to maximize one’s chances of getting the Pokémon. Here is the complete breakdown of what needs to be done.
Catch or hatch the Cherubi
Before you get the Cherrim, you need the pre-evolution of the Pokémon, Cherubi. You can find it in,
- The Pokémon appears rarely in the grassy areas (wild spawns), especially during the sunny weather.
- During special events like Spring into Spring. The chance of catching a Cherubi during the event increases.
- 7 km eggs at times hatch Cherubi. So, check the current Egg pools for the updates.
- There are some Field Research tasks that reward you with the Cherubi encounters. Complete them.
Pro Tip: use the Pinap Berries when you are trying to catch Cherubi. It will double the candy— 3 to 6 per catch.
Collect 50 Cherubi Candy
For evolving Cherubi Pokémon to Cherrim, you will need 50 Candy. You can farm it by catching all Cherubi you find (even the low CP ones), transferring some extras to Professor Willow, and getting 1 candy per transfer. You can even set Cherubi as your buddy and walk 3kms with it to earn 1 candy. Also, if you are a bit desperate, use the Rare Candy.
Evolve Cherubi into Cherrim
After you have 50 Candy,
- Go to the Pokémon storage and select Cherubi. Then tap on Evolve.
- The form will be random. You will get either the Overcast (closed petals) or the Sunshine (bloomed) version.
- The weather here does not impact evolution, unlike the main games.
If you need both forms, make sure to evolve multiple Cherubi till you get each of the versions. Additionally, Wild Cherrim, along with both forms, can also be found, but they are extremely rare. Sunshine Cherrim is quite likely in sunny weather, while Overcast Cherrim appears in other weather conditions.
Is a Cherrim Pokémon useful in battles?
No, a Cherrim Pokémon is not really helpful in the battles, but its Sunshine form gets the Weather Ball (Fire), which is a rare move for the Grass-type Pokémon. While the Overcast Form of Cherrim is purely cosmetic. Both these Pokémon have low CP— max 2315. So, they are more about collection than battling.
Can you get Shiny Cherrim?
Yes, you can get a Shiny Cherrim, but they are very rare. Both Shiny Cherrim and Cherubi were released in April 2022.
- The Shiny Cherubi has an orange body instead of a pink one.
- The Shiny Overcast Cherrim has blue petals instead of purple.
- The Shiny Sunshine Cherrim has lighter pink seeds.
The best chance for you to get a Shiny version of Pokémon is during the events with the boosted spawns.
