‘Hindu activists have no protection’: BJP slams Karnataka govt over killing of Suhas Shetty | Mangaluru News

MANGALURU: The BJP brass has lashed out at the state govt following the murder of Suhas Shetty within the Bajpe Police Station limits. Soon after the murder was reported, Hindu workers gathered in large numbers outside a private hospital where the victim was declared dead late evening on Thursday.
Soon after the incident was reported, MLAs Dr Y Bharath Shetty, Vedavyas Kamath, Harish Poonja, BJP district president Harish Poonja and representatives from various Hindu organisations rushed to the hospital. MLA Bharath Shetty said, “There is no protection for Hindu activists in the state. Anti-social elements are supported by the govt. It is a pre-planned murder. We urged the police to monitor those involved in the murder of Hindu activists. The state govt is responsible for the activation of PFI sleeper cells in Karnataka,” he said.
MLA Sunil Kumar wrote on X that law and order in the state had completely collapsed. Under the Congress govt led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Hindu activists have no protection. A govt that shows concern for those who chant “Pakistan Zindabad” must take the murder of a Hindu activist seriously and ensure the culprits receive the harshest punishment.
Dakshina Kannada MP Capt Brijesh Chowta said that activist Suhas fell victim to the cowardly act of religious fanatics. Law and order in the state had completely collapsed. Despite repeated warnings that the atrocities of fanatic forces are increasing by the day, the Congress govt led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has turned a blind eye and is directly responsible for this situation.
Former MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said that Hindu activist Suhas Shetty fell victim to the hatred of religious fanatics, and it is clear that the state Congress govt has given a green signal to yet another act of fundamentalist aggression in Mangaluru. “While I pray for Suhas’s soul to rest in peace, I also wish a speedy recovery for another Hindu activist who is undergoing treatment in the hospital after being attacked,” he said.
Belthangady MLA Harish Poonja said, “Hindu society will not keep quiet and will respond in the coming days. We are committed to the protection of Hindu workers. Due to the negligence of the police, we lost an honest Hindu karyakartha. The law and order situation has failed completely in the state. What were the intelligence and police departments doing all these days? A jihadi mindset is responsible for the murder. The video footage clearly shows that it was a pre-planned murder as none of the onlookers came to the rescue,” the MLA said.
RSS leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat said, “Hindu society must remain vigilant against such attacks and the injustice faced by Hindu karyakartas. We must stand up for our dharma and fight for justice. Hindus should be prepared to face any situation. Drawing a parallel to the murder of Praveen Nettaru, he added, “There was no clear motive in that case either. This is no different.”
Several organisations have extended support to the bandh call given by the VHP on Friday.
