Govt willing to tweak policies to attract MNCs: Min

Panaji: Urging Goa’s private sector to encourage foreign investors, multinational companies, and manufacturing units to set up in Goa, industries minister Mauvin Godinho said that state govt is ready to change policies to benefit the MNCs. The minister said that several companies are keen to exit volatile markets and set up manufacturing ecosystems in India.
“Investors from all over the world look at India, and while they look at India, why not make them look at Goa? Make these multinationals, make these large industries look at Goa,” said Godinho. “We are ready to change our policies.”
The minister, who was addressing members of the Confederation of Indian Industry, said that while govt frames favourable policies, it is for the private sector to collaborate and convince foreign investors to come to Goa. “You can never get a better atmosphere than Goa has to offer, and in the industrial sector, we were able to promote the ecosystem where slowly but steadily it is building up in a manner that we will be known for manufacturing. The industry must tell us what that little extra is that they want,” said Godinho.
He also announced that govt will simplify the process for companies to vertically expand their floor space and the built-up area in the industrial estates.
He also urged industrial units to consider Goamiles as a transportation service for women employees and night shift workers.
