Govt warns of penalties for exceeding contracted load | Goa News
Panaji: The Goa electricity department said consumers will have to face penalties if they exceed their contracted load demand. The department said that consumers will be liable to pay penalties on a proportionate basis for excess demand, in addition to their energy consumption, and requested the public to regularise their loads as per their actual requirements.“The contracted load is the load approved while availing a new electricity connection. Due to economic growth, people fit in geysers, washing machines, air conditioners, and additional power-consuming gadgets without increasing their contracted load,” an engineer said.“This is the first time the department is imposing penalties on domestic consumers who exceed their contracted load. Consumers will be penalised for the exceeded demand and also for the energy consumption,” the engineer said.In June 2024, power minister Ramkrishna Dhavalikar said that all homes in Goa will be checked to see whether they have applied for an increase in their sanctioned load.
